PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The old Simpson Building was erected in 1929 as a department store in the Art-Deco style. It was then harmoniously enlarged in the same style at the back in 1953. To exploit the strong real-estate value of downtown Montreal, the new owner, the Industrielle-Alliance Insurance Company, began to transform this old style department store as a multi-use commercial complex with all the often problems related to different needs and non-negociable requirement. Three principal users were selected to share the 210,00 square feet of the available floor area. The owners operate a commercial mall and food court at the basement level with a direct access to the Metro station.  The two first levels are occupied by the Simon's apparel store and the rest of the upper floors are occupied by the Paramount cinema complex accommodating 13 theatres including one for IMAX.
