PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Claire-McNicoll Building, formerly known as wing "Z" of the University of Montreal's Main Building, was originally built in 1965 to serve as the main block of classrooms serving the entire university campus.  Hardly altered since it's original construction, the now outmoded installations and the general obsolescence of the electromechanical systems were calling for major renovation work. The project aimed at increasing the number and capacity of classrooms  while introducing a diversity in classroom capacities and configurations, all in accordance with the contemporary standards for the didactic space as well as for the quality of the interior environment.
