PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In 2002, the "Cite de l'Energie de Shawinigan" corporation, the National Gallery of Canada and Parks Canada collaborated to undertake the conversion of the former Shawinigan Aluminum Smelting Complex into a modern and contemporary art exhibition centre. Taking advantage of vast and arresting space, the complex can host seasonal exhibitions of very large scale works of art in one of the oldest industrial building sites in North America. The project was designed in collaboration with Rainville Tremblay architects.
